tough teaching for me, a young college teacher of English, to teach adult students how to write a undergraduate thesis. i kept talking and gave a lecture of 8 periods today. during the afternoon, most of my students buried their heads down and had a short but sound and seemingly sweet sleep. my gosh, poor me! wake them up or not? in what ways? after the recess, i continued my lecture and decided to change that depressing situation. those who were sleepy must come to the front to present a impromptu mini-speech "why i can't open my eyes today?" and it worked. that student shared her own story: she stayed up to watch a tv show till 1 a.m. this morning. actually, i have to confess that my lecture appears useless to them, who in fact can't write an English thesis by the end of their part-time college study, it's totally beyond their ability. i feel quite frustrated between what is to be taugth and what is to be learnt for primary school teachers of English who r overloaded now, suprisingly to know that primary schools kids of 10 ys old begin to fall in love and have a steady boy/girl friend.
